Good Mood Food

There are foods which fuel a happier healthier brain which we should make sure we include in our daily diet.

Serotonin is manufactured in our gut so our healthy insides have an enormous impact on our mental state. It is also essential to eat good fats because being depleted in these means our Serotonin receptor function is impaired.

Here are some easy ways to boost our mood with food.

  1. Pro Probiotics

Fermented foods such as kimchi, sauerkraut and kefir boost brain health and overall mood because they produce mood boosting neurchemicals in the gut.

  2. Have a cuppa

Green tea is great for an amino acid called Theanine which can inhibit neurotransmitters which cause anxiety. Plus if you like your caffeine it can help increase dopamine and serotonin transmission - just don’t go over the daily recommended amount.

  3. Choose Protein in every meal

Apart from the benefits of protein itself, a regular supply of tryptophan for the brain promotes good mood and brain health. Choose from things like lean meats, turkey, eggs, oats.

  4. Eat more Veg

Eating more veg means we take in more fibre which is really great for our gut health - because Bacteria live in our gut and take nutrients from our diet thus any non-digestible or undigested dietary components become available to gut bacteria. That is why fibre is so powerful, because it feeds nutrients to our gut microbiota.
